The theme of this military, morality epic saga of Canada in war
paint is that the Great War, which was most heinous for its egregious battles of human attrition involving millions of senseless casualties on both sides, was obscene, abhorrent and the result of politicians and leaders who failed to avoid it, yet there were none nobler than the brotherhood of individuals who served and sacrificed their all, fighting for each other while struggling mentally and physically to survive and triumph in a world gone mad.
